I had hoped I would get some good sleep last night. Not so good. Rode anyway.  At least it was cooler and not quite so humid this morning.   Still worked to make the most of it and came out half decent in the end.

P90X-36 Chest Shoulders Tris AbX

Ah… pushups for talented people.  Syndie and Jim were out of the picture again today, but not for technical difficulties, but because they were visiting relatives.  Some people will do anything to miss this workout.  :)   Went after it pretty hard nonetheless and was pretty much smoked by the end.   Still hammered out 70 masons.

P90X-33 legs back AbX (technical difficulties)

Drug myself out of bed this morning, managed to get my workout cloths on right side out and front side forward.   Got my workout area all set up and dialed up Syndie and Jim…  We did connect, but it was really bad… then I lost the wifi altogether.   Oh great.  Tried restarting my router real quick, but it dropped right out again.  I have no idea… Anyway, I ended up calling up on the phone normally and we agreed to just work out on our own.  I slogged my way through it.  I didn’t lose any ground, but it was tedious.   I did a fast forward version of AbX and finished with 70 weighted mason twists.   I was super soaked today.  We go some rain last night and the humidity was through the roof.

Sleepy crank

I didn’t get enough hours sleep last night, so I wasn’t sure how I’d do this morning. I started out a bit slow.   It’s easy for me to lose focus when I’m not entirely awake and it takes extra effort to keep on task and keep up the push.   Even though it wasn’t as good as Tuesday’s ride, it was still better than most all of my others this year, so it has that going for it.

A little progress

I’ve been stuck all through June and July at 18.3 and 18.4 avg. Some of those days were a little frustrating to even ride. I just felt bleh, and knew they’d be "just avg" if that. Today I didn’t feel quite so out of it and was able to get a little more. I couldn’t see my watch until almost 12 miles into the ride but was encouraged by the numbers.  It was good to see the effort I felt I was putting into the ride was actually translating into numbers better than what I had been seeing.   They aren’t amazing or anything, but I’ll take progress.  Hopefully I can build on this.   :D

The Greenway

I was supposed to meet up with another guy this morning, but a mix up on my part made that not happen. I ended up riding a path called The Greenway. I am NOT used to riding where there are a lot of walkers (with or without dogs and children) , runners, and other cyclists on a trail that might manage four runners side by side… if they were pretty close together. I had no issues with people, nor was anyone obnoxiously stupid, but I was still very nervous when going around people. The trail also has a bunch of streets to stop for. To me it’s much better suited to the runner, or a beach cruiser with a picnic basket. No, not what I’m used to at all. When I reached the far end I did try to cut through a neighborhood to get to some roads on the far side but took a wrong turn. I’d forgotten my reading glasses so I couldn’t see my phone to figure it out and so I just went back. I think I’ll avoid this from now on.

Not a good as I hoped to get

A bit of a breeze on this morning.   Even so I turned a decent time to the halfway point, but I didn’t have much left in me to gain a lot of ground on the way back. It didn’t end too horribly, but I feel like I pushed way too hard to not get better than I did. Guess it happens that way sometimes.

P90X-24 Core

Well, Jim got his first official intro to the Core Synergistic workout today.  He’s seen bits and pieces, but today he got to experience the whole mix.  Based on how I felt the stretch was an absolute must today.  There are a lot of pushup type exercises in this routine, and just a handful where you use weight.   I don’t feel I did too badly overall, but I definitely was a drenched mess by the end.  Syndie kept me pushing (overachiever)!,  and Jim worked hard right there with us.   Good workout guys.   :D

Wildlife day

Woke up 10 minutes before the alarm was supposed to go off. I figured what the hell and got up. I had everything packed and ready to go from the night before. Had a little breakfast and packed a quick lunch then headed out the door. I really wasn’t feeling it this morning. Everything seemed heavy or weak. I cranked to a level that I figured I could maintain and that would hopefully give me a reasonable average. (Not that it matters a great deal, but it always bugs me if I fall off the pace too far). A mile or so into the ride I see a dark spot near the edge of the road. One of those that I know I would have noticed before if it were a regular thing. As I approached it started moving. lol… a skunk. Kind of what I was expecting. He didn’t pay me any attention in the least because he was too busy catching bugs beneath the streetlight. Further on I had three deer cross the road in front of me. I saw their shiny eyes in my headlight before I could discern their bodies much. On the return leg I had a dove fly up from the edge of the road and just make it a couple feet in front of me. I’ve picked one of these off before. There were no other critters that I noticed, but there were probably some I never even knew were there. Just so long as they stay out of my spokes or don’t clobber me as I ride by I’m all good with it. :) In the end I pulled what I believe is my best time on the year for this route. Not what I was expecting.

Didn’t quite feel like I was dying today.   Jim has done this with Syndie and I before, but had a memory block about the initial stretch portion of this routine.   No letting him off the hook though.   If we (Syndie and I) gotta do it, you gotta do it.   :)   Got some good cardio out of it for sure.
