Couldn’t help it.

I should have just rode 20-25, but I couldn’t help it. It was too nice out and I had to ride the back loop to give a co-worker a target pace to beat.  He’s in disbelief at some of the paces he sees other riders doing for various segments.  I know better, I’ve seen some of these guys in action and they flat haul ass.  Still, I haven’t ridden the back loop this calendar year, so to get it on Strava I hit it today.   Not the best day for it going the direction I had to ride for the loop as the wind was my enemy for it.  The results look like we will be having some virtual races for a a few segments.   :)   Not exactly prepared for this ride, but it was still good.  :D

P90X-43 Chest, shoulders, Tris, AbX

Poor Syndie.  She’s a trooper.   I could see right away she was really not into it.   I wasn’t exactly on top of my game either, but I adjusted almost right away.   Yes, getting a good workout in is important, but if you are wiped out, then straining to keep up with your previous gains might be more than you really are set to take on.   Good way to get injured.   Nope… I backed off and after a bit advised Syndie that she may want to as well.   She did and we both got through the complete routine.   I felt a little better as I went along, but was still cautious with a couple moves because I didn’t want to wipe out my shoulder.   AbX went well for me.   Syndie got through it, but she worked hard at it.   She ALWAYS works hard.  That’s just one of the things that makes her a great workout partner.   :D

P90X-40 Legs Back AbX

Actually did this a day early because I’m headed out of town on Friday and wanted to get to work early so I could get out of work at a decent time and hit the road Friday evening.   Legs n Back is not my fav, but we still went at things pretty hard.   Very relieved when everything was said and done.

Back on Range Road

Nothing on my plate today to prevent a ride. Minus the wind (there’s always wind) the weather was fantastic. Super sunny with blue blue skies and temps in the mid 70s. A pretty good number of other riders out and about. Unlike riding in the neighborhood there was hardly any traffic to deal with and what there was gave plenty of leeway. They didn’t have to, but it’s nice they did. As far as my actual riding, it was a struggle. Places where I might jump on it and go for a segment time I just let pass. I felt like I was riding hard enough and really didn’t have the juice in me to chase the clock. At one point I passed a guy on a mountain bike who was stopping and picking rocks and road hazards off the road… rocks, glass, sticks…etc. Not something you usually see. I said "Thanks!" He replied "No problem… I just don’t want to get stuck with another 6 mile walk due to a pinch flat." I’m guessing he tagged a road hazard and decided to do a little preventative work. Good idea, but very short term as there will be new road hazards in no time. I might regret that I didn’t put on any sun block.

Man, I so wanted L n B to be Late night Breakfast, or Links n Bacon, but noooooo, it was legs n back.  Thoroughly dislike this routine.   Sadly it’s one I need.   As usual I hooked up with Syndie and we talked each other through it.   At least I didn’t feel like I was dying after every single set.   I’ll pretend I’ve made progress.

Neighborhood gusty

A bit of a long day today with a dentist appointment thrown in for fun. I was going to put my bike in the truck after the appointment and eating lunch at home, but I totally spaced it out until I was only two minutes from being back at a work. Thus I rode the neighborhood again tonight. Lots of wind this afternoon. Very gusty and it made itself known more than a couple of times during the ride. Bad timing made for more traffic than I normally encounter.

Felt decent this morning.   I wasn’t asleep on my feet anyway.   Worked it hard today and was pretty happy to note that I hadn’t lost a lot of ground in this routine.   Syndie wasn’t slacking either and I think we both got our monies worth out of this routine today.  AbX went well.

Bike back from the shop. Windy test ride.

Got my bike back from the shop today. I tried to do an alignment on the rim, but it just wouldn’t stay true, so, I broke down and took it to the shop. I ended up getting a "tune up" package which included adjusting the derailleurs and such on top of truing the wheel. It seems their experience paid off as it seemed to hold up well on my test ride through the neighborhood. Lots of sharp turns and such to give the rim a workout, but it stayed well. As far as the ride itself. It kicked my butt. Wonderful temps, but wicked wind. Avg HR of 172… Still good to get out on the silly thing.
