Forgetful

…. I left home without my Garmin  a g a i n  …. sheesh…  Timed it with my phone… rounded down a bit for sign in / out stops… I probably cheated myself.   It was supposedly 94% humidity this morning.   Water was dripping from the front of my helmet and into my eyes practically like it was raining.   Crazy!   Anyway, I still put the effort in even though I wasn’t getting the splits.  Pretty winded at the end.

Should have gotten out earlier.

Not expected.

The way I was feeling this morning when I first got up did not leave me believing I would come close to this time this morning. Not that it’s an amazing time, but it’s good for me. It was a nice cool 75° out this morning as well, which did not hurt my effort at all.   Geez… just barely clearing 1000 miles for the year.   I had 1400 by this time last year and was .25mph faster on average.  :(

Man!  Struggled today!   It seemed like it was all I could do to maintain.   Could be that I didn’t eat enough yesterday after my ride?   Don’t know, all I know is it kicked my butt this morning.   Syndie did great, upped weight and reps and pretty much kicked butt.  Good workout.

Dying different

So, when I went to ride this morning my headlight wouldn’t come on. I was a little irritated but couldn’t do anything more than change out of my bike gear and go into work and get an early start. I meant to go and research / troubleshoot but got wrapped up with work. I know, say it ain’t so, people expecting you to work at work. Not being on a pressing schedule I decided to ride in the afternoon providing the weather would let me. It did and I rode. 91° is a lot warmer than the 75° I’ve been getting in the morning. Thankfully there was a bit of cloud cover from time to time, but it still tore me up. I did stopped to douse myself at the water point. If I’m going to be a statistic I’d just as soon be on the side of "not getting a heat injury". The average is pretty low too, but the climbing is double my usual on post ride, so I’ll call it a win just for only feeling like I died and not actually dying.  To add insult to injury, it seems my light had somehow set itself to "ship mode" and all I had to do was hold the button down for 10 seconds or so, then it worked just fine.   Sigh… live and learn… then forget and have to learn again.

A little more lake ride

The other day one of my coworkers, who also rides, poked fun at me for driving all the way to the lake and not even getting a 20 mile ride in. It does seem a little disproportionate, but it is still worth it. Today though I decided to add a few extra miles. Nice day with a low East wind. I felt fairly decent except I had to workout some leftover Legs n Back stiffness from Friday.  Fortunately, after that first mile and a half they were pretty much warmed up. Good thing because the next half mile was climbing.   Once past that I settled in to pace and cranked the rollers fairly well which garnered me a PB for a segment.   No other PBs for the ride, but I did manage maintain the average for the rest of the ride.   There were several other riders out today and I got to chat with a couple in the parking lot when I returned.   All in all a good ride today.

Rough ride

Not quite sure what went on today. Except for a slight headwind on the outbound portion it wasn’t a bad day at all. It was that second leg that really took it out of me… and really killed the average.   Gave it a good hard push in the last leg and managed to salvage an 18.2 out of the deal.   A little disappointing because I’ve been having some better rides lately.   It’s still miles under the wheels though.

Another crappy nights sleep.   I was pretty much wiped out today and had to reduce weight on a couple sets just to insure I’d actually get some reps in.  Pretty much smoked by the end of this today.   At least I had a good connection with Jim n Syndie.  Glad they were there.   :)
